This module explores the interconnectivity of surface water systems and the resulting relationship specific to a human system of agriculture and nonpoint source (NPS) contamination. This module presents a case study illustrating the NPS contamination and resulting hypoxia in the northern Gulf of Mexico, also known as the “Dead Zone.”
