2017 CAAT Conference: Driverless Cars, But What is Driving the Workforce?

This resource contains five presentations, a conference agenda, and a report from the 2017 Center for Advanced Automotive Technology (CAAT) Conference - Driverless Cars, But What is Driving the Workforce? This conference took place on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Macomb Community College's South Campus in Warren, MI.

The conference addressed the many complexities involved in the development of automated and connected vehicles, including the infrastructure, and workforce needed to support these high tech vehicles. Speakers discussed the educational requirements for working in the automated vehicle industry, the educational materials in emerging automotive technologies, and the development of the New Vehicle Development Technician (VDT) Program at Macomb Community College. The conference included a keynote presentation by Dr. Kay Stepper, Vice President Head of Driver Assistance and Automated Driving North America Chassis Systems Control; a Tech Talk Session on the fuel cells and lightweighting; a presentation of workplace reports; and a panel discussion about the workforce needs in the automated and connected vehicle industry. Finally, Nelson Kelly gave a talk about the current state of CAAT.  Slides from some of these presentations are contained in the .zip file.
