2016 REEMS REU Student Research Posters
This resource, provided by REU Site: Research Experiences and Exploration in Materials Science (REEMS) for Houston Community College Science and Engineering Students, details the poster presentations and recognition ceremony for the 2016 REEMS research experience for undergraduates. Each student involved in this program completes various multidisciplinary experiences in "chemistry, physics, engineering, the biological sciences, medicine, computational science, economics, and public policy." Twelve REEMS REU students are chosen to participate in research at Rice University, The University Houston, and the University of Texas. The results of this research are included in this pdf document. Each faculty member who led and worked with these summer research students has a short biography in this document. The posters and accompanying abstracts created by each of the twelve students and their corresponding faculty author are also included. The titles of the posters are listed below:
Poster #1: Investigating the Na2O–SrO–B2O3 Phase Space for Potential Rare-earth Phosphors for Use in Solid State White Lighting Devices
Poster #2: The effect of vacancies on the electronic and mechanical properties of Zr3N4, Hf3N4
Poster #3: Exploring the Energy Landscapes of Protein Folding and Electrostatic Effects on Protein Binding Properties
Poster #4: Cooperative DNA binding and deformation by FoxM1 transcription factors
Poster #5: Alternative Synthetic Routes of Nanocrystalline MoS2
