Live Tooling Lathe

Course Description:
This course is provided by Central Main Community College and is designed for the CNC machining instructor with an operational understanding of a Haas 2-axis slant bed lathe. This class includes theory and hands on lab time and will provide students with the opportunity to learn advanced set-up and operation of CNC lathes. Students will have to complete parts using a tailstock as well as live tooling.

Course Contents:
This course includes a 4-page syllabus, seven PowerPoint lectures, and documents and CAD files for four course projects. The syllabus includes the following sections: Purpose and Organization, Course Objectives, Student Learning Outcomes, Course Topics, and more. Lectures cover the following topics: Live Tooling Lathe Overview, Live Tooling Set-Ups, Programming Changes, Planes, Milling Toolpaths, Drilling Toolpaths, and Dual Spindle Lathes.
