Teaching Teamwork in Electronics
This 2-page article, written by Paul Horwitz, was published in the Spring 2015 issue of the Concord Consortium’s biannual newsletter and describes the Teaching Teamwork project. Teamwork is increasingly valued in the workplace, but there is a critical mismatch between the value of teamwork in the modern world and its status in an educational setting. The problem arises from the difficulty of teaching students to work together while retaining the ability to evaluate them individually. The Teaching Teamwork project with Tidewater Community College, CORD, and ETS is aimed at students in electronics classes in technical high schools and two and four-year colleges. The goal is to teach students how to work effectively in teams.
