DC Injection Braking (Part 1 of 2)
This lecture, published by Columbia Gorge Community College, provides a detailed overview of DC injection braking. In the lecture, the presenter describes using DC injection braking to "rapidly decelerate a unidirectional motor by removing 3 phase AC and briefly applying DC to the motor windings." The advantage of using DC injection breaking is that electromagnetic fields are used so no physical contact with the rotor is necessary. However, it is used for decelerating a rotor only and not for locking the rotor in place. The recording runs 06:49 minutes in length and part two of this lecture is available to view separately.
