Laser Welding and Surface Treatment
This 41-page resource, developed by the National Center for Optics and Photonics Education (OP-TEC), is one of four modules that cover photonics and manufacturing. This module "covers the ability to use high-power lasers for welding, welding procedures, and applications, and the use of high-power lasers to heat and modify surfaces." This module includes the following sections: Introduction, Prerequisites, Objectives, Scenario, Basic Concepts, Exercises, Laboratory, and more. The included lab involves making a spot weld between two pieces of copper wire and welding pieces of lucite with a CO2 laser. Three other photonics and manufacturing modules are available to view separately.
