Photonics Systems Technician Curriculum Guide

This 50-page resource, developed by the National Center for Optics and Photonics Education (OP-TEC), is a curriculum guide intended to support the implementation and teaching of Photonics Systems Technicians (PST) courses. This guide "provides assistance to faculty who will be developing laboratories and teaching courses in PST curriculum. Information [is] included to assist faculty in acquiring lab equipment, designing efficient (laser-safe) lab facilities, teaching maintenance/troubleshooting, lab book preparation, and systems integration." This guide also contains some information to help colleges plan new PST programs. A table of contents and the following sections are included: Introduction, Curriculum Materials and Other Support for Photonics Programs, Laboratory Resources for Course 1 and Course 2, and more.

Course 1: Fundamentals of Light and Lasers, Course 2: Laser Systems and Applications, and a number of related photonics modules are available to view separately. The related modules cover the following topics: manufacturing, optoelectronics, biomedicine, environmental monitoring, and forensics science and homeland security.
