In this 14-page activity, provided by the Center for Renewable Energy Advanced Technological Education Resource Center (CREATE), students take measurements and calculations on the electricity produced by the sunlight hitting a solar panel. Basic solar panel performance characteristics are measured to determine how much electricity a classroom solar panel produces. Then solar panel production data is used to project how large a solar panel array would be needed to satisfy different electrical load requirements. Information on course materials, the procedure, and an assessment is provided.

Supplemental activity materials include documents that detail the Next Generation Science Standards (NGGS) and National Energy Literacy Standards (ELS) that this activity may fulfill.
