Description:
This course, made available by Massachusetts Bay Community College, is a project-based course that is "a continuation of topics covered in iCREAT I to design, develop, and implement a complete programmable robotic system using a systematic approach." The course is part of Massachusetts Bay Community College's project titled iCREAT: A Pathway to Middle-skill Positions Through the Introduction to Coding, Robotics, Electronics, And Technology. iCREATE I is avilable to view separately. Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Envision and document the project from inception to prototype 
  • Design the specific system for the selected project (requirements, components, and interactions)  
  • Apply design to implement the system 
  • Integrate a Raspberry Pi computer with the iCREAT Is base Arduino components 
  • Implement the communication between devices based on networking and security requirements 
  • Validate the project functionality based on the requirements 
  • Improved verbal and written skills

This course is divided into 15 modules that cover the following topics: MasterCam, CNC to build the second level to house components; introduction to the RPi; introduction to the Linux environment; introduction to security; Arduino and RPi communication, introduction to Python programming; Python programming; and more. 

Contents:
Materials include an equipment list, software list, a telepresence diagram and icons, and 15 modules.

Module 1 provides an overview and introduction to the course including the course syllabus, schedule for the module, an introduction to the final project, a presentation that introduces key topics, and an additional document that features links to instructional videos.

All other modules include, at minimum, a module schedule and relevant presentation. Additional materials may include lab activities, projects, supplemental presentations, related files, and a document that features links to instructional videos.

For orientation purposes 0-iCREAT II - Module 1 - Schedule.pdf is included as a separate attachment and offers a sample of the type of material included in this learning module.
