High Performance Building Systems Technologist Job Task Analysis Summative Research Report July 2018

This 30-page report, by Palmer Consulting, was developed for the Clean Energy Technology Program at Shoreline Community College. This report is the result of a research project intended to provide Shoreline with information to enhance the Clean Energy Technology Program by identifying skills a clean energy technologist needs to be competitive in the workforce. Research was conducted with a focus group that was established to analyze the job task, knowledge, and skills for two High Performance Building Systems (HPBS) jobs – Clean Energy Analyst and Clean Energy Designer.

This report provides a summary of the research, a project timeline, a summary of the focus group meetings, and results of the analysis. The results include a list of workplace competencies, a list of critical work functions and associated skills, a list of specialized knowledge, and more. Also included are proposed curriculum and course outlines, and a proposed job description for a clean energy technologist.
