Program Description:

The Process Operations program curriculum is provided by Itasca Community College (ICC) and was created utilizing existing ICC course curriculum where possible, e.g., industrial math, technical writing, physics, etc. The Process Operations curriculum was created with emphasis on the technical and hands-on skills required for process technicians.

The specialized course development was divided into the following three areas: Process Fundamentals, Industrial Technologies, & Professional Development. Industrial Technologies includes the following courses:

  • Industrial Technologies I
  • Industrial Technologies II (Parts B & C)
  • Industrial Technologies III
  • Industrial Technologies IV

Course Description:

ENGT 2320 Process Operations Technical IV is intended to give students an opportunity to demonstrate their process and technical knowledge by completing a capstone project with an industry partner. It is the fourth in a series of courses on technical knowledge.

Course goals and outcomes include:

  • Complying with safety rules and operational/procedural protocols when working in the laboratory, at the industrial partner facility, or with other process simulators and demonstrations.
  • Communicate all written and verbal work in an organized and professional manner.
  • Students will utilize the documented requirements of the capstone project to collect and analyze data in an organized manner to develop viable solutions to complete the capstone project successfully.
  • Students will analyze and develop project schedules, costs, and justification for the implementation of the selected capstone project solution.
  • Students will learn and operate various current technologies utilized in the process industry.

Course Contents:

Course materials include a program overview, a syllabus, a document outlining capstone expectations, and a student competency document.
