SCADA Module 2 - Components and Functionality

This presentation, published by the Center for Renewable Energy Advanced Technological Education Resource Center (CREATE), is part of a series that introduces learners to Supervisory Controls and Data Acquisition (SCADA) for renewable energy. 

The presentation provides a basic overview of SCADA system components, which includes information on input and output field devices, remote terminal units (RTU), programmable logic controllers (PLC), master terminal units (MTU), and human machine interfaces (HMI). The module also describes protocols and standards for communication networks and serial communication for Open System Interconnection (OSI) and Ethernet models. A course outline, learning objectives, and additional learning materials are also provided.
