This presentation, published by the Center for Renewable Energy Advanced Technological Education Resource Center (CREATE), is part of a series that introduces learners to Supervisory Controls and Data Acquisition (SCADA) for renewable energy.

The presentation explores the use of SCADA in the renewable energy sector. Data uses, user roles, and user tasks are highlighted. User roles include system operators, local managers, technicians, and utility companies. The presentation then explores the use of data for assessing the fuel mix, import and export information, pricing and demand factors, and weather related information. A case study on overheating in a wind turbine is also provided. The presentation then describes machine and motor control. A course outline, learning objectives, and additional learning materials are also provided.

A 9-page PV solar operator simulation lab is also included.
