Geneseas : Technical Report
This 24-page report, published by St. Francis Catholic High School in Sacramento, describes the design and construction of Enhydra, an underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV). This report was created by Geneseas, a student group that participated in the 2021 MATE ROV competitions Ranger class. MATE ROV is a global underwater robotics competition for STEM students. The competition includes Explorer, Ranger, Navigator, and Scout classes.
In the report, an abstract introduces the team and project. Next, the design rationale is presented. Information on the design evolution, mechanical design, manufacturing process, mechanical components, electrical systems, pneumatics, software, and expectations for specific functions, such as a coral tool, are provided. Following this section, the report considers testing and troubleshooting. The report also highlights the project's safety philosophy, lab protocols, vehicle safety features, and safety checklist. An appendix with the safety checklist is provided at the end of the report. Logistical information on project management and the budget is also presented. Finally, a conclusion explores challenges, lessons learned, considerations for future improvements, acknowledgements, and references.
Manuals for each class and technical documentation from other teams are available to view separately.
