Valor Maritime International : Technical Report
This 17-page report, published by Valor Christian School International, describes the design and construction of an underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV). This report was created by Valor Maritime International, a student group that participated in the 2021 MATE ROV competitions Ranger class. MATE ROV is a global underwater robotics competition for STEM students. The competition includes Explorer, Ranger, Navigator, and Scout classes.
In the report, an abstract and overview introduces the project and team. A teamwork section then discusses team roles and project management. The design rationale is then presented, which includes information on innovation, problem solving, the systems approach, the vehicle structure, the vehicle systems, the control and electrical systems, propulsion, buoyancy and ballast, and payload and tools. Next, the report explores how the group made decisions for buying, building, and reusing parts. Finally, safety checklists, a critical analysis section, accounting information, acknowledgements, and appendices are provided.
Manuals for each class and technical documentation from other teams are available to view separately.
