In this video from InnovATEBIO, Jackie Madden from Harford Community College (HCC) talks about the Building Interest and Opportunities Through Engagement and Collaborative Pathways (BIOTECH Pathways) program, which is aimed at recruiting high school students into biotechnology programs at HCC to then become employed or further study at a four-year institution. An A.A.S. in Biotechnology and a revised Biotechnology Certificate that aligns with industry skills, knowledge, and competencies are explored. Biotechnology career pathways, program objectives, curriculum development, internships, partnerships, outreach and recruiting, a survey, and next steps are also highlighted. Historically underrepresented students in STEM and their recruitment is also discussed. The video recording runs 35:20 minutes in length.
