Strengthen Your Program by Implementing Employer-Led Skill Standards

This presentation from the National Convergence Technology Center provides guidance to programs on implementing employer-led information technology (IT) skill standards. The relevance of IT skill standards for educators and employers is highlighted. The 2020 IT Skill Standards (ITSS) program is also highlighted. ITSS program managers consulted thought leaders and subject matter experts to identify job clusters and skills. Clusters include infrastructure connectivity administration and engineering, technical support, technical project management, software development and engineering, data management and engineering, data analytics and predictive modeling, and security. Tentative skill areas include AI/ML, blockchain, 5G, IoT, IT automation, and AR/VR. The assessment process for including these tentative skill areas is explored. Advice for educators and administrators who may use these skill standards for their curriculum is also provided. The video recording runs 16:19 minutes in length.
