Collection Description:

This collection, from the National Convergence Technology Center (CTC), includes two 5G lab activities and related software. The labs can be used independently and each have a set of objectives. The first lab "introduces Wireshark and packet capture files generally and then shows what UDP encapsulation look like from the outside." The file "with this lab was from a simulator that shows the transmissions between two mmwave devices."

The second lab "demonstrates what is encapsulated in the UDP transmissions like in Lab1 and is between the tower and the subsequent devices." The file "for this lab is a demonstration of what could be in a UDP upstream once it is no longer encapsulated." The labs require VirtualBox.

A 5G Lab Session Establishment guide accompanies these hands-on lab activities using the free 5GC virtual appliance, which is an open source implementation of the 5G Core Network and the UERANISM appliance which is the simulation for both User Equipment and Radio Area Network.

A 5G Acronyms document is provided separately. This document contains a list of the Common Terms and Acronyms for 5G technologies.  It is recommended to use this document in conjunction with the 5G Session Establishment labs. 

The file 5G Core Establish Session.pcapng is a Wireshark PCAP file that accompanies the 5G Session Establishment lab.

The file 5G Core PING Test.pcapng is another Wireshark PCAP file that accompanies the 5G Session Establishment lab.

The file Mmwave-epc-simple-0-2.pcap is the Wireshark PCAP file that accompanies CTC-5G-Lab1.

For orientation purposes the 5G Lab - Session Establishment.pdf is included as a separate attachment and offers a sample of the type of material included in this collection.
