This presentation, provided by the Building Efficiency for a Sustainable Tomorrow (BEST) Center, is from the BEST Center's 2022 Annual Institute. In the presentation, Eliot Crowe, program manager at the Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory, gives an overview of energy management and information systems (EMIS) and how to start using them. Crowe provides an explanation of existing building commissioning (EBCx), focusing on monitoring based commission, a process that uses analytics to transmit actionable information on building optimization, and its benefits. Following this is a discussion of four categories of EMIS: money data analytics, energy information systems, fault protection and diagnostics, and automated system optimization. Directed towards new potential users of EMIS, Crowe also discusses the costs and benefits, usage in smaller buildings, and implementation.

This video runs 48:14 minutes in length. Additional videos from the BEST 2022 Institute are available to view separately.
