This video, provided by the Center for Renewable Energy Advanced Technological Education Resource Center (CREATE), is the introduction to a three chapter series on the basics of battery technology. The series provides an understanding of how rechargeable lithium ion batteries work and offers a comparison between lithium ion batteries, non-rechargeable batteries, and a simple battery made from a pickle. The introduction provides background knowledge for the series, defining batteries and electricity, and discussing oxidation-reduction (redox) reactions.

This video runs 2:59 minutes in length. Other videos in the Understanding Battery Technology series are available to view separately.
