MATE ROV Competition 2022: Explorer Class Manual
This 80-page manual, from the Marine Advanced Technology Education (MATE) Center, was provided to those competing in the Explorer Class at the MATE ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) 2022 competition. Every year, the "competition challenges students to build a ROV to tackle tasks based on the real world." The competition is divided into the following competition classes: Explorer, Ranger, Pioneer, Navigator, and Scout. These classes are "based on the level of complexity required to build the vehicle." For 2022, participants of each competition class were challenged to design and build ROVs to complete tasks relating to the three following categories: Marine Renewable Energy, Offshore Aquaculture and Blue Carbon, and Antarctica Then and Now: Endurance22 and MATE Floats!
This manual provides all the rules, requirements, and guidelines for teams competing in the Explorer Class of the competition. A table of contents and the following sections are included: Overview, Product Demonstration, Product Demonstration Prop Building Instructions and Photos, Vehicle Design and Building Specifications, Competition Rules, Engineering and Communication, and Submission Guidelines and Key Deadlines.
