MATE ROV Competition 2023: Explorer Class Manual

This 78-page manual, from the Marine Advanced Technology Education Center, was provided to those competing in the Explorer Class at the MATE ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) 2023 competition. Every year, the "competition challenges students to build a ROV to tackle tasks based on the real world." The competition is divided into the following competition classes: Explorer, Ranger, Pioneer, Navigator, and Scout. These classes are "based on the level of complexity required to build the vehicle." For 2023, participants of each competition class were challenged to design and build ROVs to complete tasks relating to the three following categories: Marine Renewable Energy, Healthy Environments from the Mountains to the Sea, and MATE Floats! 2023.

This manual provides all the rules, requirements, and guidelines for teams competing in the Explorer Class of the competition. A table of contents and the following sections are included: Overview, Product Demonstration, Product Demonstration Prop Building Instructions and Photos, Vehicle Design and Building Specifications, Competition Rules, Engineering and Communication, and Submission Guidelines and Key Deadlines.
