Student Research Project: Solar-Powered Cooling System for Parked Vehicles

In this Webinar from the Center for Renewable Energy Advanced Technological Education Resource Center (CREATE), Dr. Khalid Tantawi, Assistant Professor of Mechatronics Engineering Technology at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, presents the results student research project on creating a solar powered cooling system for parked vehicles. The project sought to combat high parked vehicle temperatures during the summer months by using solar energy to cool the inside of cars. Tantawi goes into detail on the cooling system's operation, the cooling device, the heat exchange chamber, solar power usage, and more. Also covered is the rationale behind the project, requirements and constraints for the cooling system, and the project's budget.

This video runs 31:05 minutes in length.
