This video, presented by instructor Tony Hills from the Cybersecurity Education for Advanced Manufacturing Organizations project, is the second in a series of lectures on using Nmap, a free, open-source network scanning software used in network functionality and security. This lecture introduces transmission control protocol (TCP) and user diagram protocol (UDP) communications. Hills covers the various TCP flags, UDP as an alternative to TCP, the TCP three way handshake, and the Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP). Building on the discussion of protocols, Hills begins focusing on the basics around host discovery with Nmap.

This video runs 11:44 minutes in length. Additional videos from the series and a related training scenario are available to view separately.
