This video, published by Columbia Gorge Community College, is the first part of a two part lecture on generator synchronization. The lecture walks through how to synchronize a generator to the grid, how examine the electrical and mechanical transients that occur at the time of synchronization, and how a synchronized generator exports real and reactive power. In this video, presenter Jim Pytel narrates the generator synchronization process and discusses the operation and function of two synchronization tools: synchronization lamps and the synchroscope.

This video runs 17:24 minutes in length. The second part of the lecture is available to view separately.
