AUTO 2475: AV Technology and Application

Course Description:

This Canvas course, provided by Riverland Community College, connects various advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) technologies to discuss fully automated vehicles. Explored are human-machine interfaces, neural networks, and artifical intelligence (AI) in the context of autonomous vehicles. The course consists of lecture slides on perception systems in cars, lab projects with worksheets, and various administrative materials. On completion of the course, students will learn various interpersonal skills, ethical considerations regarding autonomous vehicles, and fundamentals of autonomy related to machinery and vehicles.

Course Contents:

Course materials include a Canvas .imscc file. The .imscc file includes folders and files from the Canvas course, including a syllabus. The syllabus contains a description of the course, materials needed, class goals and objectives, grading information, and a list of class projects.

Also included are 11 lab project worksheets and presentation slides. The presentation covers perception systems in cars, discussing radar, sonar, Lidar, and cameras in cars. Each lab worksheet spans 1-8 pages and includes instructions, question blanks, and a space for instructor approval. The worksheets correspond with the following projects:

• Successfully and completely set up an AV calibration system including targets
• Successfully and completely perform a complete AV system calibration on a suitable vehicle
• Successfully perform a road test to verify AV system calibration and performance
• Successfully perform an AV system problem diagnosis
• Successfully perform an AV system problem repair
