Building Solar and Water-Powered Devices Using K'NEX Renewable Energy Sets
This webinar from the CREATE National Energy Center features a presentation by Jennifer Langston, a middle grade science educator. Langston outlines a classroom activity in which students learn solar energy fundamentals by constructing and testing a solar-powered model using a K’NEX Renewable Energy Set. In this hands-on lesson, students learn how solar panels generate electricity and observe the impact of light conditions on model performance. The lesson pairs the activity with a discussion, introducing sustainable engineering and renewable energy concepts. Langston shares additional resources and lesson planning tips for science educators.
