This 12-page resource, made available by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is an activity that introduces students to the "Force of Impact using Accelerometer and Newtons' Laws of Motion." Upon completion of this activity, students will be able to define: acceleration, force, mass, Newton's Second Law of Motion, and Newton's Third Law of Motion. They will also be able to run data acquisition systems and use graphing tools to perform data analysis.

After a brief overview, the activity is separated into the following sections: Part I: Internet Research (Pre Lab Assignment), Part II: Analysis / Calculation (Pre Lab Assignment), Part III: Set Up Lab Experiments, and Part IV: Running Experiments / Measure Force of Impact. The resource includes data collection sheets.
