Inter-Processor Connectivity for Future Centralized Vehicle Computer Platforms

PCIe is the de-facto physical layer interface available in almost all processors used in central vehicle computers. The introduction of PCIe switching provides the best solution for meeting the inter-processor connectivity requirements within a central computer. Automotive Ethernet provides the best solution for next-generation in-vehicle networks, connecting centralized computers and ECUs. In this free, 60-minute webinar, Microchip's Mike Jones and Richard Cannon discuss PCIe and automotive Ethernet’s critical role in creating complete end-to-end centralized computer platform architectures for ADAS and other connected vehicle technologies.

Key topics and takeaways:

  • The next-generation vehicle is a "data centre on wheels." CPU, MPU, GPU, NAD, SoC, Accelerators, Storage – all natively wanting to communicate PCIe
  • PCIe switches connect all processors within the central computer, meeting the connectivity bandwidth demands whilst enabling platform modularity, scalability, secure design partitioning and bridging to the Ethernet domain
  • Ethernet provides the vehicle network, transferring sensor data and timing to all devices in the central computer

Managing the Complexity of Sealing Battery Housings in Electric Mobility Applications

As the world of E-mobility continues to rapidly evolve, robust sealing solutions remain critical for high-performance operation and extended service life. One such area where the challenges of sealing involve more than just perimeter length is battery housings. Manufacturers must consider the right materials while creating the correct gasket configuration that works with the components used for the battery housing. The seal must prevent the intrusion of dust, dirt, salt, and water while simultaneously helping to contain any thermal event arising from the contents of the housing. Additionally, these gasket designs must be certified to specific application conditions and be produced consistently to perform exactly as designed. This 60-minute Webinar reviews the challenges associated with battery housing sealing used in electric mobility and provides guidance about the critical factors that must be considered in every sourcing decision.

Operational Safety Assessment Metrics for Automated Driving System-Operated Vehicles: SAE J3237

As development of automated driving system (ADS)-operated vehicles (AVs) progresses, it’s essential for operational safety to be quantified with well-defined metrics. An established set of operational safety assessment (OSA) metrics is needed as a starting point to quantify the level of risk associated with AVs on the road. An important SAE standard (Recommended Practice J3237) currently under development is intended for this purpose, providing a set of OSA metrics for industry to use as part of the quantification of operational safety competency.

This 60-minute Webinar focuses on the need for OSA metrics for AVs, starting with an introduction to the SAE J3237 document as well as how its included metrics will fit into an overall OSA methodology and safety case framework. This will be followed by a panel discussion on various aspects of OSA metrics, including the test methodology to emulate real-world driving scenes in the lab to verify the ADS and minimize driving test risks.

An audience Q&A follows the technical presentation.
