This seven-page instructor guide provides a lesson plan introducing students to liquid crystal technology and the components of an LCD (liquid crystal display). This lesson combines a guided discussion with hands-on activities to demonstrate "key concepts at work in LCD materials technology." Students will be able to explain the process of making LCD glass, define what a liquid crystal is, and discuss the applications of LCDs. This lesson was designed for advanced high school and introductory college classrooms, and takes one class period.
