I have evaluated education initiatives of the NSF, U.S. Department of Education, state and local agencies, and corporate sponsors since 1995. Most of these projects have focused on STEM and educational technologies, and they have ranged across all age groups from pre-school to doctoral students. In terms of methodology, I use a mix of quantitative and qualitative methods tailored to the needs of the grant and expectations of the funder. The most appropriate tools for the projects I have served have been constant comparative analysis of open-ended survey and interview responses, and regression analysis of quantitative responses, observations, or outcomes as predicted by what the program offers and what the participants bring. My training includes an MS in Educational Policy and Management from the University of Oregon, plus additional coursework and seminars in evaluation and data analysis.
