Unit 6: Industrial Instrumentation & Control Elements and Documentation

Unit Description:

This teaching unit from Louisiana Delta Community College is part of a high school basic electronics course from Project COMPLETE (Controlling, Operating, and Measuring: Pathways for Learners to Engineering Technology Employment). The course is intended for use in a project-based learning environment. Unit 6 provides information on industrial instrumentation and control elements, as well as documentation. Topics covered include: industrial instrumentation, process variables, piping and instrument drawing, and more. The other six units from the course cover additional topics related to electronics and are available to view separately. Project COMPLETE provides kits for the course that include electrical components, industry tools, and an Arduino microcontroller activity board.

Unit Contents: 

This unit includes five PowerPoint presentations, section review questions, a worksheet, graphic organizers, and a test. 

The presentations are each dedicated to an individual topic for the unit and are labeled according to the order in which they are to be presented. The section review questions are intended to be given after each set of presentations. Answers to the section review questions are included. The worksheet provides problems on process variables. The graphic organizers provide unit concepts and definitions; as well as terms, notation, formulas, and diagrams. The test covers the assessment questions and answers for this unit.

For orientation purposes the 14a_Industrial_Instrumentation.pdf is included as a separate attachment and offers a sample of the type of material included in this unit.
