Connecting Communities with Grid Interactive Buildings and Integrated Distributed Energy Resources

This presentation, provided by the Building Efficiency for a Sustainable Tomorrow (BEST) Center, is a part of the BEST Center's 2022 Annual Institute. During the presentation, Cindy Regnier, executive manager of FLEXLAB at the Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory (LBNL), explores the concept of grid interactive efficient buildings (GEBs) and their potential to create connected communities (CCs). A CC is a group of GEBs that work collectively to "maximize building, community, and grid efficiency." Regnier provides an overview of the Department of Energy's Connected Communities (CC) program, discussing topics such as the grid issues addressed by the CC program, how the CC program supports communities, and real-life examples of CCs.

This video runs 44:42 minutes in length. Additional videos from the BEST Center's 2022 Institute are available to view separately.
