Module Description:

This module, created by the Center for Nanotechnology Education (Nano-Link), introduces students to the technologies, processes and methods used for the creation of nanocelluloses. During the learning activity students produce a nanofiber paper by creating and processing pulp from recycled newspaper.

The learning outcome for this activity is:

  • Students will produce observable enhancements and changes in material properties using simulated nanotechnologies and processing that effect changes at the nanoscale.

Module Contents:

This module includes an instructor guide, presentation slides, and a video.

The 9-page instructor guide includes an abstract, learning outcomes, prerequisites, learning activity description and procedure, discussion questions, and more. The presentation slides provide background information on nanocelluloses for the module learning activity. The video is a demonstration of the learning activity and runs 4:25 minutes in length.

Versions in Spanish are also included for the module documents.

For orientation purposes Nanocellulose.pdf is included as a separate attachment and offers a sample of the type of material included in this module.
