This module, created by the Center for Nanotechnology Education (Nano-Link), explores "the properties of shape memory alloys, commonly called memory metals." Topics covered include: Crystals, Crystal Structures, Shape-memory Alloys, Crystal Phases, One-way Memory Phase, Two-way Memory Phase, and more. The module outcomes are: knowing about the crystalline structure of metals and being able to explain the behavior of memory metals in terms of crystal structure.

The module consists of an instructor guide and presentation slides. The 14-page instructor guide includes an abstract, learning outcomes, prerequisites, learning activity description and procedure, discussion questions, and more. The presentation slides provide background information on "crystal structure, metals, and the phenomenon of the shape memory effect."
